RE/MAX Pink Day Fundraiser

National Breast Cancer Awareness month exists to spread awareness around early detection and cure – a worthy cause that has the potential to save lives, especially considering that breast cancer is almost always curable if detected early.

“This is a cause that hits very close to home for us, which is why we run our annual National Pink Day. On 7 October 2022, we invite our network of over 2,900 agents across Southern Africa to dress in pink for the day and to take photos to share via social media using the hashtags #REMAXPinkDay #GetChecked,” explains Adrian Goslett, Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa.

“Beyond this, we will also be hosting a fundraising Livestream workout event on Friday, 7 October 2022 via our YouTube channel and Facebook page. We encourage the RE/MAX of Southern Africa network as well as the general public to join the workout event and to make donations on the day. All money received by The RE/MAX Foundation during October will be passed on to Wings of Hope, a cancer support group with branches in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban,” explains Adrian Goslett, Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa.

Tips on early detection and cure

As prevalent as breast cancer is, most still fail to go for regular mammograms and perform self-examinations to check for lumps or irregularities hiding beneath the breast tissue. Experts advise that a self-examination be done at least once a month and a ‘clinical breast examination” should be done at an annual medical check-up. From the age of 40, women should also go for an annual mammogram.

A massive thanks to all the offices and individuals who contributed towards our Pink Day fundraising efforts. Together, we were able to raise R35,000.00 which we have since handed over to Wings of Hope. To rewatch the handover Livestream, click here.
